NERVOUS SYSTEM STUDY SHEET
Objectives:
Objectives:
- Explain the job of the Nervous System
- Name the parts of the Nervous system, and the brain
- Describe how the nervous system responds to the body’s needs
- Brain
- Cerebrum
- Cerebellum
- Brain Stem (Pons & Medulla)
- Spinal Cord
- Peripheral Nerves
- Nerve
- Voluntary and Involuntary Responses
- Reflex
- Cerebrum= it is the largest part of the brain and has two halves. All ideas and feeling come from this part of the brain.
- Cerebellum-= it sits under the back part of the cerebrum. It helps you move and keep your balance.
- Brain Stem= Pons controls the body temperature. The Medulla keeps the digestive system, heart, lungs, and glands working so the cerebrum doesn’t have to think about them.
- The Spinal Cord is attached to the brain, and carries messages to and from the brain. Peripheral nerves are attached to the spinal cord. Messages travel through groups of nerves. A nerve is a bundle of cells that conduct messages from one part of the body to another. Nerve cells are called Neurons.
