- Identify the Problem, this can be the most difficult step in decision making. Remember it is difficult to make a decision if you can’t recognize the problem.
- Think about Your Values, values are beliefs that you think are important. Values can help develop your character. Values influence your decisions because they remind you what is important. Decisions based on good values almost always lead to good results.
- List your Options, an option is one of the choices you can make. It is a way of handling a problem. One way to do this is by brainstorming. Brainstorming is thinking of all the possible ways to handle your problem.
- Weigh the Consequences, this is thinking of all the possible ways a decision can affect you.
- Decide, and Act
- Evaluate Your Choice. Go back and look at the results of your decision. Then you will be able to see if it was a good decision or a bad decision. Remember if it was a bad decision, learn from it and don’t make the same mistake again.
