A disorder that is not caused by a virus or living organism is called a noninfectious disease. Some causes of noninfectious diseases are:
Diseases of specific organ systems, immune system disorders, nutrition disorders. Some of these disorders are genetic and some are congenital. A genetic disease is caused entirely or partly by genetic information passed from a parent (or both parents) to a child. A congenital disease is a disorder that is present at birth.
Common Noninfectious Diseases
· Down Syndrome, a genetic disorder
· Hunter’s Condition, a genetic disorder
· Heat Disease, leading cause of death in USA. High blood pressure, attacks, strokes, artery diseases.
· Diabetes, not able to use sugar
· Cancer, diseases in which cells grow uncontrollably and destroy healthy tissue.
· Allergy, overreaction of the immune system to your surroundings
· Asthma, a breathing disease that can be triggered by many things
· Alzheimer’s Disease, an incurable brain disease that causes memory loss
Some noninfectious diseases can be controlled. Some are serious and even fatal, while others have few effects.
